Dear members,
Thank you for making a special effort to attend the recent AGM at the Singapore Flyer. Unfortunately, we were not informed of a huge food festival event that took place the same evening. As a result, there was a massive traffic jam resulting in some 10 members who had to turn away after waiting ages.
We had in excess of 60 members. The fringe activities were well received. Food was good and our invited speaker, Mr Laurence Lien, gave a meaningful talk. My takeover: “Government cannot do everything. Citizens, especially those financially able to, must step forward, participate, and offer a helping hand to narrow wealth disparity.”
It was also an occasion to honour our senior. The EXCO deliberated and unanimously agreed to confer on NL Wong, our immediate past Chairman of HPA EXCO, the title of FELLOW for outstanding contribution, leadership and long service towards the HP Alumni. FELLOWs don’t get to retire. They continue to contribute for life!
As I relinquished the monthly HPA Activist Update to my younger colleagues in EXCO, I continue to write using my old fashion blog at http://hometruly.blogspot.com/This offers me a greater latitude to write on any thing under the sun. My latest is “Three stories, same tale”.

You can expect more exciting programmes coming your way. Following AGM, we had Prof Linda Lim in town. Her lecture with additional inputs by Mano,a local economist, was well received.
Next Thu, 17 May 2012, we have another international speaker Fredrik Haren to address us. Thanks to Eugene Lee, our VP, for bringing in Fredrik and sponsoring cheese and wine. It’s already over subscribed.
There will be limited discounted tickets in early July for the annual Singapore Garden event, Angels networking will be in late July, 2012. Lastly, we will have an earth shattering event coming to you soon. Thanks to Boon Hwee, Prof Tapponnier from NTU will give a talk at the Singapore Botanic Gardens. We have so many things lined up….it’s up to you members to participate, take advantage of these events. Members do have privileges!
Sincerely
Han Jok Kwang
