Dear friends,
Happy National Day! Last year was most eventful, especially the Japan tsunami coupled by Fukushima nuclear plant incident. I suffered my own tsunami as my health took a wrong turn and staying alive is expensive with modern medicine! Click <here> if you wish to read on. Medicine needs healing…
Trekking Malayan Railway Line
I went trekking last Saturday along the old Malayan Railway line, starting from Holland Rd. By now, I believe all tracks are already removed and it is a lot easier to walk, run or mountain bike. Thankfully, we get to keep a few highlights including the Bukit Timah station and various bridge structures.
If you park along the road side after entering Rifle Range rd, the old rail track is on your left. Turn LEFT, head towards a metal bridge and within minutes, you should see the Bukit Timah station; still intact. A portion of the railway track is kept.
After you are done, turn around, walk back towards your start point and continue for about 30 minutes and you should reach the Upper Bukit Timah Railway Mall. Stop there for a refill; be it toast, prawn mee or simply coffee. Makes for a good family outing. Budget at least 2 hours.
