The taiji/qigong presentation cum demo on 19Sep09 was excellent. First time I heard a scientific explanation on taiji/qigong in English. There were enough interest in the man’s toilet then after to suggest Soo Kok Leng should conduct a class next year.
Thank you to all donors and riders for making our 2nd Charity Ride a festive event. We had a great time, several MIAs and 2 tumbles; thankfully nothing serious. All riders were rewarded with golden tan!

Turbo team leader, Tan Wee Yeow, leading the way after the flag-off at the second HP Alumni Charity Ride yesterday. The three teams of 48 cyclists made a round trip of 30km from the Ulu Pandan park Connector to Sungei Tengah and back, raising $32,800 for the ST School Pocket Money Fund. The cyclists mostly comprised HP Alumni members.
Life long learning
I was already late to attend an opening ceremony at unearthly hour of 8am on a Monday. The night before, I prepared my attire including a matching purple tie with my shirt.
My citizen soldier, with a better dress sense, happened to be on leave. On my way out, I turned to him for his 2 cents. He took a look, asked of I work for Cirque de Soleil! He went on to explain the mismatch..blah, blah, blah.
He rampaged through my many neck ties and pulled out 2 options. By this time, I decided to go smart casual without the tie. He barked: ‘This is not a dress down Friday is it?’ I protested, stood my ground, and was just about to leave when he came by, gave me a feign hug and said: ‘If you’re feeling like you are the step son of Bozo the Clown, I can understand!’. I was intrigued with convoluted moves, taxing many muscles I never knew existed. ‘Separating Heaven and Earth’ move, if well executed, looks like one is waving down a cab. My favorite move was ‘Big Bear Turns Side to Side’. I never moved my butt muscles so much and my knees needed a double dose of glucosamine that same afternoon!
